2021 Forschungs-Mittwoch The future of doctoral research in the light of recent experience

Anne Lee has spent the last two years, with her co-editor Rob Bongaardt, collecting data from those involved in doctoral research from around the world. As a result of this collaboration with over 50 authors they have published The Future of Doctoral Research. Challenges and Opportunities. Much of the original research was carried out just before the pandemic.  Anne will outline some of the main results of this work and begin to examine it through the lens of a world engulfed in a major health crisis.

Anne Lee
Anne has conducted research into effective supervision and led programmes and seminars for supervisors and research students in the UK, USA and in northern Europe. Her book Successful Research Supervision (2011) has been widely used in Doctoral Colleges, Graduate Schools and by Supervisors. Her recent research with the University of Bristol has focussed on the challenges facing doctoral supervisors in different disciplines.

Moderation: Annette Kappeler, Koordinatorin Forschungsfeld Aufführung und Interpretation

Host: Martin Skamletz, Leiter Institut Interpretation

Im Vorfeld des öffentlichen Forschungs-Mittwochs findet ebenfalls mit Anne Lee ein Workshop zur Doktoratsbetreuung statt:

Workshop on co-supervision for PhDs
14:00–15:30
This 1 1/2 hour workshop for supervisors and PhD students will focus on your questions about how to manage situations where you have different supervisors with contrasting views, experiences, places of work, time availability etc. It will be highly responsive to questions submitted during the workshop itself and will be case study and discussion based.
