Die Herstellung von Musiksaiten aus Darm hat im 20. Jahrhundert einen grundlegenden Wandel durchlaufen, der sich auf die spezifischen Eigenschaften der Saite auswirkt. Mit den Herstellungsverfahren historischer Darmsaiten beschäftigt sich das Forschungsprojekt der HKB und HAFL Von der Alp auf die Geige, das am Mittwoch den 23. September 2015 um 17 Uhr im Grossen Konzertsaal der HKB vorgestellt wird. Dabei werden auch diejenigen Saiten zum Klingen gebracht, die im Rahmen des Projektes nach historischen Verfahren hergestellt worden sind (in Quartettbesetzung mit Dozierenden und Gästen der HKB).

Aufgrund der Beschaffenheit dieser experimentellen Darmsaiten, die sich im Bezug auf Ausgangsmaterial, verarbeitete Bestandteile und Herstellungsprozesse wesentlich von modernen Darmsaiten unterscheidet, verspricht dieser Forschungs-Mittwoch ein ganz besonderes Ereignis zu werden.

String production for musical instruments has been subject to radical changes in the course of the 20th century, changes that have had great impact on the inherent properties of the strings. Historical string making procedures have been the focus of Von der Alp auf die Geige, a communal research project of the HKB and the HAFL. The final presentation of this project will take place on Wednesday, 23. September 2015, 5:00 pm in the Grosser Konzertsaal of the HKB. The results of the research will be presented, and a string quartett composed of teachers and guests of the HKB will play strings produced according to historical procedures documented during the research project.

The raw material and methods used to produce these strings differ greatly from those used during most contemporary string making procedures, the Forschungs-Mittwoch promises to be an exceptional experience for this reason.
