2023 3rd Global Piano Roll Meeting – Prelude

We are pleased to announce that the 3rd Global Piano Roll Meeting will take place at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music (SCM), University of Sydney on 25–28 July 2024. Situated in the heart of the Sydney Central Business District next to the Sydney Opera House, Botanic Gardens and Sydney Harbour and Bridge, SCM has world-class facilities with concert halls, instrument collections, recording facilities and atrium spaces, well suited to the needs of the event. SCM is in the former stables of Government House, situated on unceded lands of First Nations people – the Gadigal People of the Eora Nation, an ancient and important site of music and dance ceremonies and knowledge exchange. On behalf of the Dean and Head of School Professor Anna Reid, the convening committee will be very happy to welcome you to SCM for this auspicious event.

This conference continues the successful work of the 1st (Leipzig, 2018) and 2nd (Bern/Seewen, 2022) Global Piano Roll Meetings. A Program Group has already started to discuss the conference design, based on the valuable feedback we have received during the closing session in Seewen. If you have more ideas and proposals for this 3rd GPRM conference, please don’t hesitate to contact us. We will also continue the well-received online “Preludes”. In 2023 we plan to have two Preludes, No 6 will be on Sat Feb. 11, 2023, No 7 will be Sat. Oct 14, 2023 – each having two papers and one listening session.
